Každý z nás má svoj vlastný zápas s Bohom: a niektorí sa k svojej živej viere takpovediac dočítajú a preargumentujú. Dejiny cirkvi poznajú mnoho príbehov intelektuálnych konverzií: od Augustína a jeho klasických Vyznaní až po Johna Henryho Newmana a jeho Apologie pro vita sua. Prvé verše Danteho Božskej Komédie boli takto zlomovými pre Roda Drehera. Zlomený a zamotaný v depresiách po tragickej smrti svojej mladšej sestry, čítanie Danteho diela viedlo Drehera k tomu aby svoj život opäť raz - a s Božou pomocou - chytil pevne do svojich vlastných rúk. Rod Dreher

Rod Dreher is an author and journalist whose best-selling books have been translated into 12 languages. He is a leading commentator on the relationship between Christianity and public life. He is a senior editor at The American Conservative, where he writes a popular blog about religion, culture, and politics, and he publishes often in other journals. In 2017, his best-selling book "The Benedict Option" was described by The New York Times as "the most important religious book of the decade." In 2019, his book "Live Not By Lies," a warning about what he regards as the coming soft totalitarianism, became another bestseller in the United States. It has to date sold over 120,000 copies, and has been or will be translated into at least eight languages, including Slovak. He dedicated the book to the memory of Father Tomislav Kolakovic, the founder of the Slovak underground church. Dreher has been living in Central Europe this summer as a visiting fellow at Budapest's Danube Institute. This is his second appearance at Bratislava Hanus Days. He is an Orthodox Christian who lives with his wife and children in Louisiana.
